FLO is actively engaged in activities geared towards improving the livelihoods of forest communities. To this end, FLO has been building capacities of the locals in rural communities particularly its target areas on Non-Timber Forestry Products (NTFP) harvesting, value addition and marketing. In addition, FLO is currently implementing Community-Based Micro-Enterprises development in and around its target areas. By training and building the capacities of women and youth groups, FLO has ensured that the marginalized communities are actively participating in the small scale commercial environment. FLO has also begun pilot projects on marketing and information dissemination. FLO intends to avail information to small scale holder farmers on market prices of their products and production technologies. FLO is soliciting funds to carry out women micro-lending activities and other related areas of work in order to encourage women investment in domestic businesses, improve the standard of living and hence livelihood of communities/ living along the Mekong river.
